The Broadalbin-Perth Board of Education recognizes that effective school boards implement certain practices and that school boards have a direct impact on student achievement.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities for board members and implement best practices, when applicable, to make the board more effective.

The Broadalbin-Perth Board of Education recognizes that quality instruction in the classroom is paramount to student achievement. The board is committed to holding all staff members accountable for student learning and for fostering a culture of achievement in Broadalbin-Perth schools.
  • Research best practices of the top school districts in New York State. Develop and implement operational and instructional improvement plans based on those best practices.
  • Expand the use of technology to increase instructional effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Make use of data to drive instructional and operational decisions.
  • Increase by 10 percent the number of students in grades 3-8 who achieve proficiency on New York State math and ELA exams.
  • Increase by 10 percent the number of students who achieve mastery on Regents exams.

The Broadalbin-Perth Board of Education recognizes that costs associated with employee salary and benefits represent more than 60 percent of the district operating budget. Fair and responsible contracts with bargaining units will not only preserve jobs during the short term but will help the school district remain fiscally solvent over the long term.
  • Maintain transparency during contract negotiations.
  • Research educator reward systems. Negotiate with local bargaining units for the implementation of one or more reward systems that have been proven highly effective and that fit within the financial constraints of the school district.
