Everything was coming up roses at The Learning Community’s annual Grandparents’ Day celebration. Hundreds of grandparents and other family members joined their TLC students in the high school gymnasium to enjoy the presentation, which included students reading a book, What Grandparents Can’t Do and a photo slideshow of students with their grandparents. Later in the presentation, which was put on by the TLC’s Red Community, students shared some of the phrases their grandparents say that they just don’t understand, such as “When pigs fly,” “You’re growing like a weed,” and “Everything’s coming up roses.” Then some students shared what they like to do with their grandparents before the big finale – a special song for the grandparents.
