Broadalbin-Perth community welcomes home its state champion soccer team
The sounds of sirens, horns and cowbells accompanied the bus carrying the Broadalbin-Perth boys soccer team down State Route 30, through the Village of Broadalbin, and up the hill to Broadalbin-Perth High School, where more than 100 residents gathered on the afternoon on Sunday, Nov. 20, to see the team that won the district's first state championship.
This morning, the Patriots defeated Wheatley, 1-0, on junior Ben Bellandi's second-half goal, and senior Madison Wilcox earned the shutout in goal at Middletown High School. During the post-game awards ceremony, senior Dom Kwiatkowski was honored as the state tournament MVP.
B-P finishes its season with an undefeated 19-0-3 record, including 13 shutouts.
