Freshman Timeline

August:

  Attend ninth grade orientation for students and their parents.

•  Check schedule to be sure that you have a Math, History, English, Science and PE class.

 

September:

•  Attend Making High School Count at BPHS.

•  Attend the club fair and sign up for at least one club.

•  Stay for ninth period for classes that you could use extra help with; this will establish good habits.

•  Use your agenda to develop good organizational skills.

 

October:

•  See your School Counselor to develop a four-year high school plan.

 

March:

•  Meet with your School Counselor to select courses for 10 th grade. Parents are invited to attend this conference.

 


 

Keys to Success in High School

•  Attendance is important. Come to school everyday and be on time. Only stay out sick when absolutely necessary and make up work promptly.

•  Do all your homework on time. (Zeros for homework can really bring your average down fast!)

•  Stay after for ninth period with teachers when needed.

•  See your School Counselor for assistance in developing a high school plan for success.

 

School Counselors work with English teachers to develop skills needed for success in high school including: Study skills, organizational skills, communication skills, goal setting, and social skills.
