Innovate: A Comprehensive Plan

On Monday, March 28, 2016, Broadalbin-Perth unveiled its comprehensive plan, “Innovate.” The plan features long-term goals based on the work of members of the 2028 Task Force, as well as recent academic data and excerpts from an enrollment study completed by the Capital Area School Development Association (CASDA).

Broadalbin-Perth began work toward achieving the goals outlined in “Innovate” during the 2015-16 school year, and work will continue through the 2020-21 school year and beyond.

Questions about “Innovate” and the work being done to achieve the district’s long-term goals should be directed to Superintendent of Schools Stephen Tomlinson at (518) 954-2500, option 5.

The 2028 Task Force

The 2028 Task Force was convened to help develop a long-term educational plan for the district in accordance with one of the Board of Education’s goals for the 2014-15 school year.

Starting in December 2014, the 2028 Task Force – named for the graduation year of the district’s first class of full-day pre-K students – was charged with drafting a “plan for making B-P’s educational programs more flexible, customizable, college- and career-oriented, and tailored to meet students’ interests and needs to better prepare students for their futures.” Task force members — including students, teachers and administrators, and business and higher education representatives — discussed short-term and long-term needs and opportunities for the district.

CASDA Enrollment Study

To help guide the five-year comprehensive plan, the school district consulted with the Capital Area School Development Association (CASDA) to complete a Comprehensive Student Enrollment and Facilities Usage Study.
