Odyssey of the Mind Team Advances to World Finals
 |
A team of students from the Broadalbin-Perth Intermediate School is advancing to the World Finals of the Odyssey of the Mind Competition. The team is made up of six fourth graders.
To advance to Worlds, the team first had to win at regional competition in Ilion, NY. Next, they came in second place in their problem, Road Rally Division I, at the state competition in Binghamton. The top two teams in each division advance to The World Finals. For Road Rally, the team’s task was to design, build and operate an original vehicle that had to complete four sports related tasks. All of this had to be done without any outside assistance from adults. |
The 29th Odyssey of the Mind World Finals will be held from May 31 to June 3 at the University of Maryland, College Park. The team will be holding some fundraising events to help offset the families’ cost for the trip. A spaghetti dinner will be held at the American Legion in Broadalbin on May 2nd from 5-9 pm, tickets are $5. For tickets or for more information, please contact Charla Simonson at 954-2623.
