Students take home awards for ‘Horsing Around with the Arts’

The artwork of a number of Broadalbin-Perth students is on display at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs as part of the 24th annual Horsing Around with the Arts Student Art Show, and several of the students have earned awards for their pieces:

8th grade

  • First place – Haleigh Hayes
  • Third place – Maddalena Minkler

9th grade 

  • First place – Dominique Castellucci
  • Honorable Mention – Leah Frascatore, Hannah Gomula

10th grade 

  • First place – Chelsea Tucker
  • Second place – David M. Opalka
  • Third place – Jeffrey Shlomovich
  • Honorable Mention – Kira Coon, Austin Wallace

11th Grade 

  • Honorable Mention – Jacqueline Hilliard, Ariana Keller

The art show runs through May 28 at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, 191 Union Ave., Saratoga Springs. First-place winners will also have their artwork displayed at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) Young Artists Festival on June 3.

Students in grades 8-12 who are taking classes with art teachers Crisan Anadio, Wendy Carroll and Katherine Quackenbush-Blair submitted pieces for the juried art show. Participating students include:
