Intermediate School Principal
Daniel Casey has been principal at Broadalbin-Perth Intermediate School since 2009.
Prior to becoming principal at BPIS, Casey was an English teacher at Broadalbin-Perth High School for six years and served as the BPHS assistant principal for one year.
As principal of the Intermediate School, Casey has implemented programs such as the popular pizza and reading nights known as Slice and a Story, the Amazing Math Race that gets students excited about solving math problems, and the Community Connections program to help better integrate the school into the community.
He also has coached the boys modified soccer team and been the adviser for the ski club.
Casey has led his team of teachers in implementing the Common Core State Standards Module and has been the lead administrator on the district’s APLUSS Advisory Committee (Academy of Peer Learning: United for Student Success), which is focused on professional development of B-P faculty.
Casey attended high school at Cobleskill-Richmondville Central School District. He received his bachelor’s degree in secondary education with a concentration in English, a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, and his Certificate of Advanced Study from SUNY Plattsburgh.
Casey lives with his wife, Jen, who is the band director at Knox Junior High School in Johnstown, and their two daughters, Anna and Erin. An outdoor and sports enthusiast, Casey is a triathlete and enjoys mountain biking and skiing. He also loves murder/mystery/suspense novels, his favorite being “The Count of Monte Cristo.”
