Graduation Requirements
High school students are required to earn a minimum 23 total credits to be eligible to graduate. Those credits must be earned as follows:
- 4 credits of English
- 4 credits of Social Studies
- 3 credits of Math
- 3 credits of Science
- 1 credit of Fine Arts
- 1 credit of Language Other than English (LOTE)
- 1/2 credit of Health
- 2 credits of Physical Education (1/2 credit per year)
- 1/2 credit of Personal Finance*
- 4 additional credits in electives
- 23 total credits
* This is a district requirement, not a New York state requirement.
Diploma Options
Regents Diploma
Students must score at least 65 on all five required Regents exams in order to earn a Regents Diploma:
- Integrated Algebra
- Global History
- U.S. History and Government
- English
- Science
Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation
Students must score at least 65 on all of the following exams:
- Integrated Algebra
- Geometry
- Trigonometry
- Global History
- U.S. History and Government
- English
- Science
- A second Science Regents exam
- A Language Other than English (must earn 3 credits in LOTE)*
* Students acquiring 5 units of credit in one of the following may be exempt from earning 3 credits in a Language Other than English: Art, Music, Business or Career & Technical Education
To earn a Regents Diploma with Honors or a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors, a student must achieve an average of 90 percent in all Regents exams required for the diploma.
