B-P PTO Spring EGG-stravaganza set for April 23

The Broadalbin-Perth PTO is going big with its new spring event. After all, with a name like “Spring EGG-stravaganza,” the group knew it would have to pull out all the stops. So, PTO volunteers have filled more than 10,000 Easter eggs that children will have the chance to collect during the April 23 event, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Patriot Field at Broadalbin-Perth Jr./Sr. High School.

“The PTO is very excited to bring another new community event to B-P,” said PTO president Wendy Perry. “We hope that our Spring EGG-stravaganza becomes another cornerstone event that the PTO is known for and one the community looks forward to for years to come.”

The main activity at the Spring EGG-stravaganza will be a series of egg dashes, organized by age or grade. During each dash, children will start at midfield and, when given the signal, race to pick up as many eggs as they can that are scattered across the far end of the field. The PTO expects to put out more than 2,000 eggs for each of the five dashes. Hidden inside two of the eggs in each dash will be a golden ticket that the winners can turn in for a new bicycle, while other eggs will contain sweet treats.

While the event is free to attend, the cost to participate in an egg dash will be $5 per child. Adults and older siblings helping young children in the dashes can participate free of charge. Families should bring their own Easter baskets or bags to put eggs in during the dashes. Gates open at 11 a.m., and the egg dashes are scheduled as follows:

  • Preschool – 11:30 a.m.
  • Pre-K/K – 11:50 a.m.
  • Gr. 1-2 – 12:10 p.m.
  • Gr. 3-4 – 12:30 p.m.
  • Gr. 5-8 – 12:50 p.m.

In addition to the egg dashes, there will be a bounce house, vendors, and community organizations.

Our goal as a PTO is to create collaborative events that connect not only our district but our wonderful community,” Perry said. “We look forward to seeing everyone join in the fun!”

Parents, teachers, and school staff interested in volunteering for the event can sign up on ParentSquare. Students and community members interested in volunteering or reserving a space as a vendor or as a school/community organization should email PTO@bpcsd.org.
