The Broadalbin-Perth Central School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Tucker Gifford to the position of director of health, physical education, athletics and nursing. He takes over for Adam Barnhart, who will continue in his role as assistant high school principal. Gifford was unanimously appointed by the Broadalbin-Perth Board of Education during its monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 28.
Gifford has been with the district since 2003, and has served as a physical education and health teacher since 2006. He graduated from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and earned his master’s degree in education from Sage Graduate School.
“I would like to congratulate Mr. Gifford on his appointment,” said Superintendent Stephen Tomlinson. “I look forward to continuing to work with Mr. Gifford as we strive to provide the very best in educational and athletic opportunities for our students.”
“This is a tremendous opportunity,” said Gifford. “I am honored and excited to lead this department and our student-athletes.”
Gifford will continue to coach the varsity boys and girls basketball teams for the coming season only. A new coach will be appointed following the 2019-20 season.
