Broadalbin-Perth has closed its outdoor spaces for community use while classes are canceled because of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“Unfortunately, we received too many reports from concerned residents that individuals who were on our campuses were not following our simple guidelines for responsible use,” said Superintendent of Schools Stephen Tomlinson. “We have a responsibility to our community to do everything we can to help mitigate the spread of this virus, and while we had hoped that individuals would follow our guidelines, it has become clear that the most responsible thing we can do is close our facilities.”
The district’s building and grounds team has locked the gates that provide access to fields and playgrounds and posted signs informing visitors that the facilities are closed. District leaders will continue to monitor all school facilities through the district’s system of security cameras.
Members of the Broadalbin-Perth community should continue to refer to the district website for the most up-to-date information on the district’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. Parents, employees and other individuals who have signed up to receive messages from the district via email, phone and SMS text message, as well as the district’s mobile app, will continue to receive regular updates in the coming days and weeks.
