All classes for Broadalbin-Perth students are canceled until Tuesday, March 31. District leaders made this decision in consultation with leaders from HFM BOCES and the other 14 component school districts.
While there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Broadalbin-Perth community at this time, district leaders made the decision to cancel classes based on available science, reports from other countries, and in consultation with school health experts. Those experts have said that the best evidence for “flattening the curve” of the rate that the coronavirus is spreading is to remove the opportunity for “community spreading.”
District leaders are making plans to continue providing meals for students. Additional information will be made available by the end of the day Monday.
All district staff will meet starting at 8 a.m. Monday, March 16 in the Margaret Robin Blowers Auditorium. Employees should follow social distancing procedures and leave at least one seat between themselves and the next closest person.
The most up-to-date information about the effects of coronavirus on Broadalbin-Perth schools and the district’s regularly scheduled activities will be posted on the district website. Parents, employees and other individuals who have signed up to receive messages from the district through the Patriot Portal and the district’s mobile app will continue to receive regular updates.
