High school performs lockdown drill

Broadalbin-Perth held a scheduled lockdown drill today at the high school. The district regularly holds these drills to ensure students and staff are prepared in case of a real emergency. Today’s lockdown drill was just that — a drill. There was no emergency.

The following is a message from BPHS Principal Mark Brooks:

Dear Broadalbin-Perth Parents and Guardians,

The safety and welfare of our students and staff are our highest priority at Broadalbin-Perth. This afternoon, B-P High School conducted a lockdown drill. We practice safety drills throughout the year to help our staff and students know what to do in an emergency.

Our school works closely with local authorities in order to correctly develop and implement safety procedures. The goals of the drills throughout the school year are to improve our ability to protect students, save lives, and reduce injuries. These practice drills allow us to evaluate our emergency operation plans and improve our response skills.

We are pleased with the outcome of today’s drill and feel reassured that our safety plans can be implemented effectively by our staff.

Please talk with your child, if you deem it appropriate, about the drill. Our goal, while practicing important safety procedures, is to be sure all students feel safe.

If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to call me.

Sincerely,

Mark Brooks
Principal, B-P High School
