Since Monday, 54 students in grades K-6 at Broadalbin-Perth Elementary School have been working with professional tour actor/directors from the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) to learn their roles in “The Jungle Book.” Their intensive week of preparations will culminate with two public performances this Friday and Saturday.
During their one-week residency, the MCT tour actor/directors held daily rehearsals with cast members and also hosted an assembly for fifth- and sixth-grade students on Wednesday. The Missoula Children’s Theatre’s residency in Broadalbin-Perth is funded by B-P’s Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO).
Performances of “The Jungle Book” are set for 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11 and 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 in the BPES big gymnasium. Doors will open 45 minutes before showtime each day, and seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets cost $5 each and may be purchased at the door. Children ages 2 and younger will be admitted free of charge. There will also be concessions for sale and a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds will go toward bringing MCT back to B-P in 2023.
About “The Jungle Book”
Ever been abandoned in the jungle, adopted by wolves, taught by a bear, befriended by a panther, and chased by a tiger? In the Missoula Children’s Theatre musical adaptation of “The Jungle Book,” Mowgli the man-cub has all these adventures and more. Join him as he escapes from the Bander-log, outwits a tiger, enlists the help of a rock python, explores what it means to be human, and learns a lesson from the brave mongoose Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. Original music and rollicking humor give new life to the classic tale by Rudyard Kipling.
