During his daily press conference on Friday, March 27, Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered all schools in the state to remain closed until April 15. Unless school districts receive further guidance from the governor’s office, all Broadalbin-Perth students and teachers will return to school on Wednesday, April 15.
“We know that April 15 is in the middle of our scheduled spring break,” said Superintendent of Schools Stephen Tomlinson. “At this time, we’re waiting for further guidance about how spring break may be affected by this executive order. We’ll communicate with our community no later than Thursday, April 9 about the status of spring break in Broadalbin-Perth.”
While in-person classes are canceled to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), learning is continuing. Learning resources are available on the district website for all students in pre-K through grade 12.
District leaders will continue to monitor guidance from the State Education Department about how the state-mandated school closure will affect the school calendar for the rest of the year, including scheduled school holidays, Regents exams and graduation.
Members of the school community should continue to refer to the district website for the most up-to-date information. Parents, employees and other individuals who have signed up to receive messages from the district via email, phone and SMS text message, as well as the district’s mobile app, will continue to receive regular updates in the coming days and weeks.
