B-P student-athletes score NYSPHSAA School of Distinction Award

Broadalbin-Perth’s athletic teams put the “student” in student-athlete this year, earning 2018-19 Student-Athlete School of Distinction and School of Excellence Awards from the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.

Broadalbin-Perth was one of just two districts in Section II to earn the School of Distinction Award, and one of just 35 in New York state.

Sixteen of sixteen B-P varsity sports teams were named Scholar-Athlete teams during the 2018-19 school year. Districts only earn School of Distinction awards if 100% of their varsity teams are named Scholar-Athlete teams. Districts earn School of Excellence awards if 75% of their varsity teams are named Scholar-Athlete teams.

“We’re extremely proud of all of our student-athletes at Broadalbin-Perth,” said Athletics Director Matthew Ehrenreich. “This is an incredible accomplishment by an incredible group of students!”

“To see the numbers of schools honored increase again is a true testament the kind of student-athletes were have here in New York State,” said Dr. Robert Zayas NYSPHSAA Executive Director. “We continue to be proud of this program that highlights and celebrates schools that value the importance of academics, as well as athletics.”

Congratulations to all our varsity sports teams for their accomplishments this year!
