B-P turns spotlight on physical and emotional health during student Wellness Day

From basketball to board games, birdhouses to Beyoncé, students at Broadalbin-Perth Jr./Sr. High School focused on different kinds of learning Thursday, Mar. 16. The morning marked the return of Wellness Day, when students spend the morning exploring fitness and hobbies.

Students had the opportunity to pick from among 15 sessions, including roller skating at the nearby High Rollers skating rink, hiking, snowshoeing, yoga, playing cornhole, watching a movie, playing esports, and singing karaoke.

“Coming out of the pandemic, we’ve increased our focus on students’ emotional health and wellbeing,” said junior/senior high school principal Mark Brooks. “I’m grateful to our faculty — especially Jennifer Grimmick and Lynn Bond — and our student government for planning and hosting this half day for our students so they could focus on their physical and emotional health, recharge with their peers, and have fun in the process.”
