Virtual presentation from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28
Broadalbin-Perth’s Parent University is kicking off the new school year with a presentation for B-P juniors and seniors and their families on the college admissions process. The session will be held virtually via Zoom at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 28 with guest presenter Katie Szalda, admissions director for Siena College. The session will be moderated by members of B-P’s counseling department, Charla Simonson, Jennifer Grimmick and Jennifer Steele.

Pre-register and submit questions in advance:
Szalda will present general information about the application process that will apply to any university or college, including how to write the perfect essay, what are the requirements for college admission, when should you plan college visits, what questions you should ask and tips on how to make your application stand out from the rest. The presentation will allow time for parents and students to ask questions.

Parent University is a community collaboration led by the Broadalbin-Perth Central School District. B-P partners with community agencies and organizations to offer free courses, family events and activities that will equip families with new or additional skills, knowledge, resources and the confidence to become full partners in their children’s education. The goal of Parent University is to increase parent involvement in B-P schools and empower parents to raise children who are successful in school and in life. Research has shown that parents can increase a child’s academic success through their involvement with schools and communities. Parental involvement improves student morale, attitudes, and academic achievement across all subject areas.
