Withdrawal from Courses (Grades 8-12)

Withdrawal from a course will be permitted, without prejudice to the student, providing that express permission from the parent to the school counselor be given and a written parental request be made within two weeks of the beginning of the course.  In all cases, students must still meet the district’s prescribed course load.

Withdrawal from a course after the first two weeks will be permitted only upon extenuating circumstances and with the consent of the high school or middle school principal.  In that case, the grade of “W” will be entered in the student’s personal record/transcript.

No withdrawals will be permitted after March 1 for a full year course or after December 1 or May 1 for a half year course.

In all cases, the potential impact of withdrawal from courses on a student’s status for graduation and/or fulfilling educational standards set for students of the Broadalbin-Perth Central School District will be communicated in writing to the affected student and his or her parents or guardians.
