The Broadalbin-Perth Class of 2017’s graduation ceremony is set for the evening of June 23, and a rehearsal will be held earlier in the day. In addition to the graduation ceremony, a Baccalaureate service also is planned for June 22.
Details for these activities for B-P’s graduating seniors are as follows:
Graduates and their families are invited to attend the Community Baccalaureate Service at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at the Broadalbin Baptist Church, 40 West Main St., in Broadalbin. The candidates for graduation are to wear their caps and gowns and will be asked to participate in the ceremony. The class will march into the service as a group and should assemble in front of the church by 6:45 p.m.
In order to present a well-organized ceremony, the class will rehearse for graduation at 9 a.m. Friday, June 23, on the Patriot Field. In case of rain, rehearsal will be held in the gymnasium. Students should meet in the gymnasium lobby and should not wear their caps and gowns. Following rehearsal, each graduate will receive six reserved seat tickets for the ceremony. Tickets will guarantee seats on the bleachers or, in the event of rain, in the gymnasium. Any tickets students will not use should be returned to the office. Anyone with extenuating circumstances or special accommodations (wheelchairs, etc.) in regards to seating should contact Mrs. Passino immediately.
In the past, there have been seniors who have not fulfilled obligations to our school; i.e., return books, uniforms, etc. If any obligations are still outstanding at the time reserved seat tickets are distributed, non-preferred seating arrangements may occur. Parents should contact the office with any questions about possible outstanding obligations their students may have.
The commencement exercises will begin promptly at 7 p.m. Friday, June 23. The graduates should meet in the gymnasium by 6 p.m. to form the line of march. If the forecast indicates inclement weather, a plan to move graduation indoors in the gymnasium will be made by 3 p.m. Call the main office at 954-2600 for clarification. Also, you can check the website for the venue at www.bpcsd.org. It will be posted on the main page of the high school section. (Go to schools, then click on high school.)
School district staff ask that no one brings string confetti, beach balls, etc. for use during the ceremony.
Questions about any of these items should be directed the main office at 954-2600.
