Students at Broadalbin-Perth Intermediate School participated in a school-wide event Friday, March 8 to raise money for the American Heart Association for the sixth year in a row.

The event, previously known as Jump Rope for Heart, focuses on promoting healthy habits such as exercising 60 minutes per day, drinking more water, eating more fruits and vegetables, and reducing sodium intake.

“Healthy body, healthy mind,” intermediate school physical education teacher Vincent Calderone said. “I’m extremely proud of the kids.  They’ve exceeded my expectations of going out, getting contributions, and making a big difference in other children’s lives.”

The students have raised more than $27,000 to date.
