The Broadalbin-Perth Central School District is proud to announce a variety of activities to honor and celebrate the Class of 2020. These festivities abide by the COVID-19 guidelines set by Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the Fulton County Department of Health, while still giving graduates and their families the opportunity to celebrate this important milestone.
Broadalbin-Perth High School is partnering with the Ozoner Drive-In to hold a virtual graduation ceremony at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 25. An hour long video, including the traditional program items like speeches and the reading of graduates’ names and scholarships, will be played on the big screen. All graduates and family members are encouraged to decorate their vehicles for the occasion, and all participants will stay in their vehicles during the ceremony.
On Friday, June 26, seniors will take the customary walk across Patriot Field to receive their diplomas. Graduating seniors had the opportunity to sign up in groups up to 10, and each graduating senior will receive tickets for up to 12 family members. During this staggered graduation ceremony, which is slated to take place between noon and 5 p.m., there will be opportunities for families to take photos.
Also on Friday, June 26, the entire community will be able to view the virtual graduation video at 7 p.m. on the CW15. The district will also be hosting a watch party on its district Facebook page, facebook.com/BPpatriots. While watching the show, members of the community are encouraged to tag the district (@BPPatriots) and use #BPClassof2020 on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to interact with all viewers. The graduation video will be archived on the CBS6/CW15 website, as well as the Broadalbin-Perth YouTube page.
