School Tax Rates & Bills

School property tax rates are set in August for the upcoming school year. Tax rates are based on the total tax levy in the voter-approved school budget, the state-determined equalization rates, and assessment rolls for each town.

For the 2024-25 school year, the rate per $1,000 valuation for school taxes for each respective town is:

  • Amsterdam — $176.019814

Due Dates

School tax bills for the 2024-25 fiscal school year will be mailed out the first week of September. School taxes are billed annually. Here are the due dates for 2024:

  • Payments without penalty: September 1 – October 4
  • Payments with 2% penalty: October 5 – October 31
  • NO PAYMENTS are accepted after October 31. Any amounts unpaid at that time will be turned over to the appropriate jurisdiction for collection.

Payment Methods

PLEASE NOTE

The district does NOT accept in-person payments. Taxes can be paid by mailing a check or paying online with a credit/debit card.

PAY BY MAIL (check or money order)

Checks should be made payable to Broadalbin-Perth School Tax Collector. Please include your tax bill stub with your payment. Payments must be postmarked no later than September 30 in order to avoid penalty.

PAY ONLINE (credit or debit card)

Taxes can be paid by credit/debit card (two-day processing) on the district website and payments must be made by October 4 in order to avoid penalty.

Residents whose school tax bills are paid via escrow accounts should not use this service as the amount due will be deducted from their escrow accounts during the month of September, as in years past.

Residents who choose to use the online bill pay service should note that the company that provides the service charges a one-time transaction fee of $0.50 plus 3% of the bill total for credit or debit card payments (minimum $2 fee).
