Michele Kelley primarily works with the Broadalbin-Perth district leadership team on communications matters related to the Board of Education’s annual goals and serves as a strategic advisor on district initiatives, with a focus on community engagement. She began working with Broadalbin-Perth in 2008 as a member of the Capital Region BOCES Communications Service, and assumed the director position with the district in 2019.
Kelley has received a number of awards from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) and New York State Public Relations Association for the work she has done for Broadalbin-Perth, including NSPRA Golden Achievement Awards in 2010 and 2017. In 2013, she was part of NSPRA’s inaugural 35 Under 35, a program that recognizes emerging leaders in the school communications profession.
Prior to joining Capital Region BOCES, Kelley worked for six years in the athletic communications departments at Colgate and Syracuse universities. She has also worked as a game-day statistician for several Albany-area college athletic teams, including the Union College men’s hockey team from 2008 through 2014.
Kelley holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and religion from Colgate University and a master’s degree in public relations from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
