Elective classes team up to create ‘Dark Forest’ photoshoot

New for the 2021-22 school year, B-P graphic design teacher Crisan Anadio is offering a Special Effects Makeup Artistry class which teaches students the science of makeup, with a focus on the special application techniques used in film, television and on stage.

For the “Dark Forest” photoshoot Anadio’s class collaborated with John Viscosi’s photography class and Michael Graves’s music improvisation class.

The special effects students began by creating their own “dark forest” character. Once the character concept was complete, they brought their mystical beings to life by creating their costumes and applying their makeup.

The students culminated the special event with a photoshoot with Viscosi’s photography class, who edited the pictures in post-production using their class skills like Photoshop. After the photos were edited, and ready for production, Graves’s music class created the soundtrack for the video. The students based the music off the dark fantasy theme, giving the photos an eerie score.
