All things science took center stage June 2 as the second-graders hosted their science fair and all elementary students experienced the wacky Slapstick Science performance.

Dr. Herbert Hertz of Slapstick Science brought his traveling show “Much Work with Little Effort” to the Robin Blowers Auditorium, where he used circus tricks to demonstrate what energy is, what simple machines are and how to use simple machines to accomplish seemingly impossible physical feats.

Over in The Learning Community gymnasium, second-graders were busy showing their science fair projects to fellow students, teachers and parents. Among the many displays and demonstrations were the tornado in a bottle, how static electricity works and turning saltwater into freshwater.
