Gov. Cuomo orders schools to remain closed through May 15

On Thursday, April 16, Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued an executive order mandating all schools in the state to remain closed through May 15 to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Unless school districts receive further guidance, all Broadalbin-Perth students and teachers will return to school on Monday, May 18.

While in-person classes are canceled, learning is continuing for Broadalbin-Perth students. Learning resources are available on the district website for all students in pre-K through grade 12. Parents whose children need access to a computer at home or are having difficulty accessing learning resources online should call the main office at their child’s school or submit a ticket through the district’s online help desk.

Broadalbin-Perth is also providing meals for current students who opt-in, and helping essential workers find child care

District leaders will continue to monitor guidance from the State Education Department about how the state-mandated school closure will affect the school calendar for the rest of the year.

Members of the school community should continue to refer to the district website for the most up-to-date information. Parents, employees and other individuals who have signed up to receive messages from the district via email, phone and SMS text message, as well as the district’s mobile app, will continue to receive regular updates in the coming days and weeks.
