Dear Broadalbin-Perth families:
Welcome back to what will prove to be an exciting school year for all students. I, for one, am excited to come out from under COVID’s shadow and am super excited to return to relative normalcy this coming school year. Your Broadalbin-Perth faculty and staff have been hard at work planning for the arrival of students in the classroom, but have also helped beautify our school buildings and grounds by taking on jobs not typical of educators, such as painting, landscaping, and even cleaning areas beyond their own classroom when necessary. As a result, our school buildings and grounds have never looked better!
You may have heard that Broadalbin-Perth has recently added two School Resource Officers (SROs) to assist in improving our school safety and security protocols. SROs Kyle Harris and Nicole Buckley are very excited to support our efforts to keep our buildings safe and secure while forming positive relationships with each and every student that walks our hallways. Please welcome Kyle and Nicole when you see them in passing!
Lastly, as we begin a new school year, we will continue to follow newly updated health guidelines related to COVID-19. These guidelines come from the CDC, the NYS Department of Health, Fulton County Public Health, and our school district health services team:
- In-person instruction will be provided for all students.
- Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 must isolate themselves.
- Isolation is typically for five full days. Individuals may return to school on day six if their symptoms have subsided and they are fever=free for 24 hours. Isolation times can vary.
- The NYS Department of Health recommends that individuals wear a mask during days 6-10 after testing positive for COVID-19.
- Quarantines are no longer required for close contacts. If they come into contact with a positive individual, please continue to monitor your child for COVID-19 symptoms. Keep children home when they are sick.
- Please continue to report any positive COVID-19 cases to your child’s school nurse.
- Masks and face coverings are optional, both in school buildings and buses, and we continue to respect each individual’s decision regarding masking.
For the most detailed and up-to-date information, please visit the New York state COVID-19 website.
In closing, I look forward to working with everyone in the Broadalbin-Perth school community to ensure our students are supported and cared for as they strive to be the best they can be in school. Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns that might arise during the school year.
