Letter: Masks optional in schools as of March 2

Dear families and colleagues,

Over the weekend, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the statewide mask requirement in schools will be lifted on Wednesday, March 2. This means that starting Wednesday, students, school employees, and visitors will no longer be required to wear face coverings or masks in any of our school buildings or on school buses.

Mask wearing in school will continue to be optional for all children and adults. We understand that there are many reasons why an individual may choose to continue to wear a mask in school, and therefore we will not tolerate any bullying, harassment, or ostracization of any individual based on their choices.

As always, we will continue to work with our local county health officials as COVID-19 health and safety protocols evolve. If any additional changes to these protocols are made, we will communicate those to you.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and commitment to the health and safety of our students and staff.

Sincerely,
Stephen M. Tomlinson in cursive
