Masks no longer required outdoors at New York schools

On Monday, June 7, the New York State Department of Health issued new guidance for schools that includes lifting the mask mandate outdoors on school grounds. Starting today, Tuesday, June 8, Broadalbin-Perth will no longer require students, employees, or visitors to wear masks when they are outdoors on school grounds.

The new DOH guidance clarified that all other COVID-19 health and safety standards remain in place, including the wearing of face masks when indoors and social distancing cannot be maintained. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has indicated it does not plan to change its federal guidance for schools prior to the end of the school year.
