5633 – Gender Neutral Single-Occupancy Bathrooms

Single-Occupancy Bathroom: A bathroom intended for use by no more than one occupant at a time or for family or assisted use, which has a lockable door for entry and egress to ensure privacy and security.

All single-occupancy bathrooms in state-owned and, where feasible, state-leased buildings under the jurisdiction of state agencies must be designated and maintained as gender-neutral, in compliance with New York Public Buildings Law §145.
The superintendent or his/her designee will ensure that signage in the district is in compliance.
