B-P honors long-time supporter with Most Dedicated Patriot Fan Award
The Broadalbin-Perth community came out in numbers on Friday, Feb. 2 to honor one of its own. Joe Kilinski was presented with the Most Dedicated Patriot Fan Award during halftime of the boys basketball game, in recognition of his life-long commitment to B-P’s interscholastic athletics program. Future awards will be named in his honor, as the Joe Kilinski Most Dedicated Patriot Fan Award.
Kilinski attended Friday night’s game with many members of his family. The award was a surprise to Kilinski, and when the award was announced, the surprise continued as even more members of the Kilinski family walked into the Robert C. Munn Gymnasium wearing matching t-shirts.
Those who have attended Broadalbin-Perth games in the past have likely seen Kilinski in the stands. Between boys and girls soccer, basketball, volleyball, football, softball and baseball, Kilinski could often be found at a game two to four nights a week. He began attending sporting events at Broadalbin in the early 1950s while dating his wife Anne. Once their children were of age, he attended their sporting events.
“We could always count on seeing Dad in the stands,” his daughter Kirsten Kilinski said.
Kilinski also continued the tradition for his grandchildren. Once his grandchildren graduated, Kilinski continued to support B-P sports, attending as many games as he could. He is able to continue this tradition of attending a few games a week thanks to the support of his children.
