B-P recognizes varsity student-athletes at annual red carpet event

Broadalbin-Perth's varsity student-athletes traded their sneakers in for dress shoes recently for the school's annual Varsity Student-Athlete Recognition Program. This year's event featured the return of former sports reporter Lexi Swatt-Sheerin as master of ceremonies, as well as B-P alum and reigning Connecticut Basketball Coach of the Year Sam Zullo as the keynote speaker.

Highlights of the evening included introductions of the school's Unified sports teams, team awards presented by varsity coaches, and the presentation of Athletic Booster Club scholarships.

Track and field standout Rylee VanAlstine and four-sport athlete Mairead Marsden were named the male and female student-athletes of the year. VanAlstine was also presented with a replica of his state championship banner for his 600-meter indoor track and field title; the real banner will hang in the Robert C. Munn Gymnasium. Alexandra Brown and Kole Dominique received the Coach Giz Sports Award.
