B-P staff prepare to welcome students for the 2026-27 school year

With the 2026-27 school year about to begin, Broadalbin-Perth faculty and staff returned to school Tuesday and Wednesday to prepare for students’ arrival.

Staff members spent the days reconnecting with colleagues, preparing classrooms and workspaces, and getting ready for the year ahead. Tuesday also provided an opportunity for staff to collaborate, reflect on their work, and build excitement for welcoming students back to B-P.

On Wednesday, the district welcomed keynote speaker Dr. Linda Jordan, who taught faculty and staff about the neuroscience of learning and how understanding the brain can help educators better support their students.
Jordan told staff, “The most important thing is relationships.” She explained that strong connections help create an environment where students are better positioned to engage in learning.

Jordan also challenged staff to think beyond simply delivering information, encouraging them to consider how students process, store, and retrieve what they learn. She highlighted the importance of using visuals, clear learning targets, and engaging activities to help students make meaningful connections with new information.
“If we do not get our kids connected, don’t expect cognitively much to happen academically,” Jordan said.

Throughout her presentation, Jordan encouraged educators to recognize the potential in every student and to approach their work with purpose and flexibility.

“You’ve got to believe in every single child who walks into your classroom, because every single one of them has unbelievable potential,” Jordan said. “And we need to believe in them.”

Jordan also reminded staff that small actions can have a lasting impact on students, emphasizing the power educators have through their words and interactions.

After two days focused on preparation, collaboration, and connection, B-P faculty and staff are ready to welcome students back to school on Thursday and officially kick off the 2026-27 school year.
