BPHS FBLA students compete and earn honors at State Leadership Conference

Members of the Broadalbin-Perth chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) recently represented the district at the New York State Leadership Conference in Rochester, where approximately 860 students from across the state gathered for three days of competition, leadership development, and networking at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

Several Broadalbin-Perth students were recognized for their achievements and participation across multiple competitive events.

Seniors Logan Haight and Angela Leto were each presented with plaques recognizing their second-place finishes at the district level earlier this year in Job Interview and Public Speaking, respectively.

Junior team members Kimberly Lin, Julianna McColl, and Kelsey Walter competed in the Event Planning competition and advanced to the state semifinals, placing among the top nine teams in New York state.

Sophomores Olivia Hill and Madisen Elmendorf also reached the state semifinals in the Introduction to Social Media Strategies event, placing in the top eight teams statewide.

Olivia Hill also competed individually in Introduction to Business Communications and placed fifth in the state. She received a medal during the awards ceremony and was named an alternate for the national-level competition.

Juniors Kimberly Lin and Ben Faboskay also served as voting delegates for the district during the conference. In this role, they attended candidate meetings, participated in question-and-answer sessions, visited campaign booths, and helped select the next slate of state FBLA officers.

According to their teachers, students demonstrated professionalism while connecting with peers from across New York state and strengthening their leadership, communication, and business skills.

“We are so very proud of all of the hard work that it took to achieve all of these results,” said BPHS business teacher Wendy Stokna. “We are incredibly proud of the growth we have seen in each of our competitors and know that these experiences create a strong foundation for each student's future success. We appreciate all who make these experiences possible for students.”
