Broadalbin-Perth celebrates seven student-athletes extending their playing careers in college

Broadalbin-Perth Central School District recently recognized seven senior student-athletes who plan to continue playing their sports in college while pursuing their academic goals.

Family members, coaches, teammates, and school staff gathered to honor the accomplishments of Garrett Jackowski, Michael Eglin, Adrianna Smith, Jayla Soler, Logan Haight, Zachary Rattray, and Chase Tyler as they officially announced their college decisions.

Garrett Jackowski will attend Dominican University, where he plans to major in biology and play baseball. A three-sport athlete in baseball, basketball, and golf, Jackowski earned scholar-athlete recognition and participated in Unified sports. In baseball, he was named Foothills Council Player of the Year as both a junior and senior, and earned Foothills Council Pitcher of the Year honors as a sophomore. Jackowski concludes his baseball career with more than 200 strikeouts, including 57 strikeouts in 34 innings during his senior season.

Michael Eglin will continue his academic and athletic career at Utica University, where he plans to major in business administration and play baseball. A dedicated member of the Patriots baseball program, Eglin helped contribute to the team’s success throughout his high school career. At Utica, he will continue competing on the diamond while pursuing his academic goals in business.

Adrianna Smith will continue her academic and athletic career at Hudson Valley Community College, where she will major in health sciences and play softball. A standout pitcher for the Patriots, Smith earned all-Foothills Council first team honors and was selected as a Section 2 Foothills Top 4 All-Star. This spring, she surpassed 300 career strikeouts, adding another milestone to an outstanding career in the circle.

Jayla Soler will attend the University of Hartford, where she plans to major in early childhood education and compete in track and field. Soler participated in volleyball, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field during her time at Broadalbin-Perth. She earned Bi-County Field Athlete of the Meet honors and was a consistent contributor to the Patriots’ successful track and field program that included a Section 2 Group 3 outdoor track and field championship this spring.

Logan Haight will continue his academic and athletic career at Hartwick College, where he will major in nursing while competing in cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field. A dedicated distance runner, Haight was also a familiar presence on the sidelines assisting the athletic training staff. His senior year included helping the Patriots capture the 2026 Section 2 Group 3 outdoor track and field championship. Beyond athletics, Haight earned recognition as the 2025 New York State FBLA Job Interview Champion.

Zachary Rattray will attend Niagara University and continue his hockey career. A three-sport athlete who competed in golf, ice hockey, and lacrosse, Rattray earned scholar-athlete recognition and was a member of the Varsity Club. On the golf course, he was a six-year varsity starter, three-time Section 2 Tournament qualifier, and two-time Foothills Council League Champion. During his senior season, he served as team captain and again qualified for the Section 2 Tournament. On the ice, he recorded two goals and 11 assists while earning the Hawks Award for his team, which also includes student-athletes from Albany, Niskayuna, and Schoharie.

Chase Tyler will attend Lander University, where she plans to major in biology and play soccer. A four-year starter and senior captain, Tyler finished her career with 49 goals and 41 assists. She helped lead the Patriots to a Foothills Council Championship and multiple sectional final appearances. During her senior season, Tyler recorded 18 goals and 14 assists while earning Foothills Council Offensive Player of the Year, Section 2 Class A Player of the Year, First Team Foothills Council, Section 2 Class A All-Star, and New York State Class A Second Team honors.

“We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes who have chosen to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level,” said Athletic Director Shauna-Rae Haley. “As Patriots, they have represented Broadalbin-Perth with pride, dedication, and character, and we are excited to see all they will accomplish in this next chapter. The best is yet to come, and we can't wait to cheer them on as they take the next step in their journey."
