Broadalbin-Perth refreshes campuses with seasonal landscaping, fresh paint

Broadalbin-Perth Central School District started the new school year with refreshed entrances, bright seasonal flowers, and freshly painted hallways, thanks to a collaborative effort of staff and community partners.

The district partnered with Beyond Your Garden in Broadalbin to enhance landscaping across all campuses. The updates include redesigned landscaping at the middle school entrance and the rear connecting corridor entrance at the secondary campus, a refreshed courtyard near the high school media center, updated landscaping throughout the elementary grounds, and new plantings outside the district office.

Caitlin Walter, who owns Beyond Your Garden with her husband, Jesse, shared that 119 mums were recently placed in the gardens that needed them most, while established spaces like the elementary school’s memorial and flagpole garden remain in place. She noted that plantings began in May after the tulip and daffodil blooms ended, were refreshed again around Labor Day, and were recently updated with plants appropriate for the fall season.

“It’s important that we continue to beautify our grounds districtwide for our students, staff, and families,” said Assistant Superintendent for Operations and Safety Bradley Strait. “Partnering with local businesses like Beyond Your Garden gives us valuable expertise we wouldn’t otherwise have. Jesse Walter’s knowledge and creativity directly support our vision of making every space welcoming while helping us sustain these projects over time.”

Staff members also spent the summer completing painting projects at both buildings. The district’s buildings and grounds team is maintaining the new landscaping and ensuring the campuses continue to look their best.

“Our goal is to take a seasonal approach across key areas so the campus looks its best year-round,” Strait said. “We recognize the value of collaborating with community partners, and this relationship is a great example.”
