Circle of life: BPES students study life cycle of plants in their school's backyard

Fourth graders at B-P Elementary School have been growing their gardening skills this fall. The students have been involved in designing and planting a perennial garden located near the greenhouse behind the school that features edible plants and plants that attract pollinator insects.

According to Project Lead the Way teacher Kristie Schwartz, students are also taking into consideration the texture of plants – including the shape, size, and color of leaves – in designing the garden. Through the garden, students will learn about the life cycle of plants, from seed to flower or food, and will also learn about greenhouses and how they work.
