Nellis, Ahern receive December MVP Awards

Congratulations to the December recipients of the Most Valuable Patriot (MVP) award, custodial worker Josh Nellis and kindergarten teacher Rebecca Ahern!

Josh Nellis, Custodial Worker

Josh Nellis, a 2022 B-P graduate, has worked for his alma mater since May.

Nellis said it was quite a pleasant surprise to receive an MVP award.

Nellis's nomination read, “Josh is considerate and conscientious in his work. He has a strong work ethic and cares about the school community and looks out for others. There are several actions that he has taken over the past several months that have led up to this nomination.”

“I’m truly fortunate to be here. I honestly had no idea I made such a positive impact in the amount of time I’ve been here,” Nellis said. “I am quite appreciative of the positive impact that I seem to have had on students."

Rebecca Ahern, Kindergarten Teacher

Rebecca Ahern is in her second year of teaching kindergarten at B-P and her third year overall in the district.

“When my daughter got to kindergarten, Mrs. Ahern went out of her way to accommodate my daughter's needs... and figured out ways to keep my daughter in the classroom and learning," wrote the parent who nominated her. "Mrs. Ahern made it her mission to understand my daughter's strengths and challenges and is setting her up for success. I am so grateful my daughter is in Mrs. Ahern's class this year!”

“It warms my heart to know that parents see that it's my job to make sure every student can learn at the highest possible level,” Ahern said. “I am truly blessed to be able to work with kindergartners. It's a crucial time in their lives and I'm happy to be a part of it.”

Each month, two district employees are recognized through Broadalbin-Perth's MVP program. Each winner receives a B-P Yeti mug. Nominations can come from any member of the school community and all nominations should be submitted online. The deadline to nominate a B-P employee for the December MVP award is Friday, Jan. 3.
