Jacaruso, Nacheman receive May MVP Awards

Congratulations to the May recipients of the Most Valuable Patriot (MVP) award, music teacher Laura Jacaruso and BPES science teacher Mike Nacheman!

Laura Jacaruso, music teacher

Laura Jacaruso has been a band teacher with B-P for 12 years. Her dedication to the district, her students, and the B-P music program was recently recognized by a parent.

"She dedicates time outside of school, recently at the NYSSMA solo festival, Sing Play Cafe, and all-county music festival," a parent wrote. "She makes herself available for any questions or concerns that may come up and my child has been engaged and eager to better herself this year because of Mrs. Jacaruso's enthusiasm!"

Jacaruso appreciated hearing about why she was nominated for an MVP award.

"It is so rewarding to see students taking advantage of the musical opportunities we offer here at B-P and watching them learn and grow from their musical experiences," Jacaruso said. "My favorite part of teaching is sharing my passion for music and performing, so I am very grateful and humbled to be recognized for that!"

Michael Nacheman, BPES science teacher

BPES science teacher Michael Nacheman was honored to be recognized as an MVP this month. He said he is delighted to hear that he is making a difference in the lives of his students.

"It is such an honor to receive this nomination from the parent of a student who has grown so much in my class," Nacheman said. "Over the years I have strived to create a fun and welcoming environment in which students can grow. Knowing that the children are leaving my room more confident and looking forward to learning more the following day puts a smile on my face." 

Nacheman was nominated for the MVP award by a parent who spoke very highly of Nacheman's support for his students. 

"Mr. Nacheman is very compassionate and always has a positive outlook with his students and makes them feel comfortable," the nomination said. "He is someone who is easy to speak to and confide in. He makes learning fun for my son, who always looks forward to his lessons and experiments in class. Mr. Nacheman has made school a more positive environment for my son, as he gives him a chance to be himself and gives him more confidence in his studies each day. We are grateful that Mr. Nachman has been so communicative on any issues that need attention and how he works with us toward solutions and goals. B-P is lucky to have him!"

Each month, two district employees are recognized through Broadalbin-Perth's MVP program. Each winner receives a B-P Yeti mug. Nominations can come from any member of the school community and all nominations should be submitted online. The deadline to nominate a B-P employee for the June MVP award is Monday, June 3.
