Elementary school teaching assistant Deangela Kwiatkowski has been with the district for more than two decades, and she is also the mom of two B-P graduates.

Kwiatkowski was nominated by a coworker who wrote, "D always shows up when you need a hand. Every morning, D stops into the office, and the first thing she will say to the room is, 'What needs to be done?' and 'What does everyone need?' She goes above and beyond when never asked."

Kwiatkowski said receiving the MVP award made her feel very valued as an employee.

"I am thankful to work with such a fabulous team," she said. "I love that I am able to touch the lives of children in a small way."

Nicole Battisti, Technology Education Teacher

Broadalbin-Perth High School technology teacher Nicole Battisti is in her fifth year with the district. During that time she has been the driving force behind B-P's construction and skilled trades program.

"She goes above and beyond with the program," wrote the student who nominated Battisti for an MVP Award. "She single-handedly has built this program from nothing. Her connection with the students is incredible. She is always helping out and actually wanting her students to learn and have a great project. Woodshop is my favorite class, and it's because I like making cool projects and learning important skills for the future. But it's also because I have a great teacher who's there whenever another student or I start struggling."

Battisti said it was an honor to be nominated, but even more special to be nominated by a student.

“Students are the reason I am doing this, to find excitement and opportunities in the trades, and their recognition reminds me that the work is worth it," Battisti said. "Building any new program is a lot of work, and this construction and skilled trades program has always been designed around student interest and community needs. It's amazing to see a student recognize all the extra beyond-the-classroom things that were needed to build this program, and it's exciting to see it come to life. I am always happy to help any student who wants to learn a new skill or improve their skills.”

Each month, two district employees are recognized through Broadalbin-Perth's MVP program. Each winner receives a B-P Yeti mug. Nominations can come from any member of the school community and all nominations should be submitted online. The deadline to nominate a B-P employee for the next MVP award is Monday, May 4.
