Marshall, Haley appointed to secondary leadership positions at Broadalbin-Perth

The Broadalbin-Perth Central School District has announced the appointment of Kristina Marshall as the new principal of Broadalbin-Perth Middle School and Shauna-Rae Haley as the new assistant principal at Broadalbin-Perth High School.

“I am pleased to welcome Mrs. Marshall and Mrs. Haley to the Broadalbin-Perth leadership team,” said Superintendent of Schools Stephen Tomlinson. “I am confident in their commitment to supporting the academic growth of all secondary students while remaining committed to our mission of supporting the establishment and growth of programs that support the whole child.”

Marshall, a longtime B-P educator and resident of the district, brings to her new role more than a decade of experience in education and instructional leadership. In her most recent position, she served as assistant principal/coordinator at the HFM BOCES Career and Technical Education Center, where she supported career and college readiness for more than 580 high school students. Marshall previously taught English Language Arts at BPHS for 12 years and served as the district’s secondary ELA department chair.

“To me, being the next leader at B-P Middle School is an incredible honor and a personal commitment to the students, staff, families, and community,” Marshall said. “This opportunity allows me to give back to a place that has shaped me both professionally and personally.”

Broadalbin-Perth Middle School is scheduled to reopen at the secondary campus in September 2026 for students in grades 6-8. The return of the middle school model at B-P was the result of a months-long study that included conversations with community stakeholders about how the district can best meet the needs of middle-level learners. Over the coming school year, Marshall will lead the work of developing a vision for the new middle school and preparing the faculty, staff, and building to welcome students next fall.

“In my new role as middle school principal, I’m most looking forward to reconnecting with colleagues and building strong relationships with students, staff, families, and the B-P community,” Marshall said. “Families can expect a school culture that is student-centered, inclusive, and built on relationships. Under my leadership, BPMS will be a place where every student is welcomed, supported, and challenged to grow.”

Shauna-Rae Haley moves into the high school assistant principal role after serving as a special education teacher at BPHS since 2022. Haley has been a visible and active leader in the district through her work as the high school’s character education program chair, co-director of the Broadalbin Youth Commission, and adviser to multiple student organizations. Before coming to B-P, she taught in a self-contained special education program at Gloversville High School.

“It means the world to me,” Haley said of her new role. “I truly love our students, I believe deeply in the strength of our community, and I’m honored to lead in a district that puts students first in everything we do.”

Haley takes over the assistant principal role from Adam Barnhart, who was promoted to the high school principal position this spring.

“As assistant principal, families can expect someone who shows up every day with passion, purpose, and a genuine love for our students,” Haley said. “I am here to listen and support, always keeping the best interests of your child at heart.”

Both Marshall and Haley will begin their new roles this summer and will help lead preparations for the 2025-26 school year.
