Mobile carts offer breakfast on the go to B-P

Broadalbin-Perth students have another convenient option for starting their school day with breakfast, thanks to the district’s new mobile food carts.

The carts provide students with an easy way to grab breakfast as they arrive at school, helping make sure they have access to a nutritious meal before the school day gets underway. At the middle and high schools, breakfast is available from 7:20 to 7:45 a.m.

“The breakfast cart is another way we can make sure our students have access to a nutritious meal to start their day,” said Erika Winney, director for food service, wellness and nutrition. “We know mornings can be busy, so having breakfast available right where students are makes it easier for them to grab a meal and be ready to learn.”

The mobile breakfast cart is part of the district’s broader effort to make school meals accessible and convenient for students. The B-P food services team offers a variety of daily choices designed to be both nutritious and appealing to students.

All Broadalbin-Perth students are eligible to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day, regardless of family income, through the Community Eligibility Provision, or CEP. That means students can start their day with a free breakfast and receive a free lunch at school each day. Additional meals, snacks, and à la carte items are available for purchase.

Although breakfast and lunch are free for all B-P students through CEP, the district encourages parents and guardians to complete the free and reduced-price meals and milk application each school year to help keep meals free moving forward. The application is online at www.myschoolapps.com.

Families can find daily breakfast and lunch menus, serving times, and additional food services information on the district’s website.
