Passino, Arcuri receive March MVP Award

Congratulations to the March recipients of the Most Valuable Patriot (MVP) award, high school secretary Pam Passino, and third grade teacher Carrie Arcuri!

Pam Passino, High School Secretary

Pam Passino has been with the district for 22 years. She was hired as a nighttime cleaner, then after a year, she became a high school hall monitor, a role she kept for 11 years. For the past decade, she has been the high school secretary.

Passino's nomination came from a parent in the district: "This woman is the most incredible person I have ever met. She goes above and beyond with each student and parent who walks into that building. She also listens to all of the students' complaints, goals, dreams, struggles, and sad conversations. She is the one who helps encourage each one of them to become better and follow their own paths."

In response to her nomination, Passino said, "Receiving this award makes me feel very good, very humble. I love to work with the students. I love what I do."

Carrie Arcuri, Third Grade Teacher

Carrie Arcuri has been with the district for eight years. She began as a teaching assistant and is now in her fourth year of full-time teaching. In addition to teaching third grade, Arcuri also advises an American Sign Language club at the elementary school each spring.

The parent who nominated Arcuri wrote: "Throughout the year, she has consistently gone above and beyond, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to the success and well-being of her classroom... Mrs. Arcuri takes the time to understand each student's individual needs and works tirelessly to ensure they feel valued, supported, and encouraged. One of her most remarkable qualities is her ability to connect with her students. She goes out of her way to ensure that every student feels heard, respected, and empowered each and every day." 

Arcuri said she was honored to receive the MVP award. "I pour my heart and soul into teaching," she said. "It's a passion of mine. I love it. I come to work every day, putting my all in all. This is our home away from home because you are here five days a week. We have to be a classroom family and support one another." 

Each month, two district employees are recognized through Broadalbin-Perth's MVP program. Each winner receives a B-P Yeti mug. Nominations can come from any member of the school community and all nominations should be submitted online. The deadline to nominate a B-P employee for the April MVP award is Mon, April 7.
