Patriot Academy students visit MetLife Stadium for Jets Sports Business Day
Ninth graders in the Patriot Academy at Broadalbin-Perth Jr./Sr. High School participated in Jets Sports Business Day on Nov. 14 at MetLife Stadium. In addition to a behind-the-scenes look at exclusive locations within the stadium, students heard from business team members and leaders in the Jets organization who discussed their education, career paths, current roles, the importance of a quality training program, interviewing advice, and decisions each of them have made along their career progression.
Speakers represented many different types of business careers related to sports, including sales, marketing, customer service, sports management, and employee training programs. Some of the stops on the stadium tour included the MetLife50 Club, Commissioners Club, Green Room, Mezz Club, Pepsi Corner, locker room, and Coaches Club. The tour ended on the field.
Students reflected on what they heard during the trip that inspired them or connected to their learning:
- “Find something that you enjoy, don’t just look at the money.”
- “Try to be yourself.”
- “They felt like family at their job. That is important.”
- “Our sales pitch exercise in the Academy was a lot like what they do every day.”
