Puppet People put on production, present prize for PARP participation

On Monday, Dec. 4, performers from the Puppet People wowed and entertained students at Broadalbin-Perth Elementary School with their rendition of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" during special assemblies. The Puppet People stayed in town to deliver a series of workshops for students in select classes on Tuesday.

Students in Christiane Gifford's pre-K class, Dianne Magliocca's fourth grade class, Kristie Schwartz's sixth grade homeroom, and Michael Nacheman's sixth grade homeroom participated in the workshops Tuesday, during which students made their own stick puppets. These classes were randomly chosen among all classes that had at least 75% participation in the school's Pick A Reading Partner (PARP) program for the month of September.

Since 1994, the Puppet People have performed more than 3,000 shows for audiences young and old. Directors Mark Carrigan and Michelle Smith-Carrigan have been performing, teaching and inspiring children with the ancient art of puppetry for more than 30 years.
