Summer reading fun continues with story time at BPES

Throughout the summer, Broadalbin-Perth Elementary School has opened its doors to students to encourage them to read. During each Summer Story Time, guest speakers have read a Dr. Seuss book to participating children, then led the children in a craft or activity.

Last week, members of the BPES cast from last spring's production of "Seussical Jr." attended the Summer Story Time in costume to read a story. Afterward, they helped the children in attendance make "Cat in the Hat" hats out of different kinds of candy and color on Dr. Seuss-themed coloring sheets.

The last Summer Story Time will take place starting at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, in the BPES media center. Board of Education member Ed Szumowski will read "Fox in Socks" and B-P media center teaching assistant Jennifer Szumowski will read "One Fish Two Fish," followed by a snack and craft. Participating children are encouraged to wear their favorite silly socks to the Summer Story Time.
