Warriors Within wraps up fall season, starts planning for Golden Gala
The Warriors Within program at Broadalbin-Perth started last year with just a week's worth of events and fundraisers. For the program's sophomore season, it has expanded to be a year-round program that supports local families, regional initiatives, and national charitable organizations.
Warriors Within recently wrapped up its fall season, during which the program raised more than $6,000 to support three local families facing hardships, the school district's backpack weekend feeding program, and the following charities:
- The Bernard and Millie Duker Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center through the Patriot-thon dance marathon;
- The American Cancer Society through the boys soccer program's Patriot Pink Out;
- Hannah's Hideaway at the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Albany Medical Center through the girls soccer program's Go Orange Game;
- The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation through the cross country program's kids fun run; and
- The Susan G. Komen Foundation's Making Strides Walk through the football program's Golden Game.
Organizers are now planning for the program's winter season and the inaugural Golden Gala, which is set for March 2025.
"Expanding Warriors Within from a week to a full-year program allows us to make a greater impact locally – assisting more families facing hardships and offering a scholarship to a graduating senior – and globally, including donating funds to more charities that support, educate, and treat families battling cancer and other chronic illnesses," said Warriors Within Co-Chair Kerri Barker.
The Warriors Within program at Broadalbin-Perth is sponsored by Sticker Mule (Golden Sponsor), Jade Enterprises, Quality Hearing Instruments, Alpin Haus, Bargstedt Enterprises, Hales Mills Country Club Ageless Aesthetics, Halgas Funeral Home, Dun Loggin/Winkked Inc, Down to Earth, China Wok, Vincent J. Giaimo, DDS, Blooming Lotus, and Lanzi Family Restaurants.
