Broadalbin-Perth Intermediate and Middle School students served pancakes, French toast, sausage and sides to area veterans at the annual Veterans Day breakfast on Thursday, Nov. 8. Students extended their show of appreciation with musical performances, speeches and small gifts as each veteran was recognized by name.

Board of Education member and U.S. Army veteran Ed Szumowski served as the master of ceremonies, and led those assembled in a moment of silence after students said the Pledge of Allegiance, sang the national anthem, and performed taps.

Jack Dunlap, president of the National Junior Honor Society, gave a moving speech describing what Veterans Day means to him.

Members of the middle school concert band performed a selection of patriotic songs before members of the National Junior Honor Society served breakfast to the veterans and their guests.
